I was reminded today, just how important it is as a teacher, to honour and respect your students.
Whilst teaching I often walk around the room, observing and taking care that my students are not only working with the proper alignment, but listening to the feedback their own bodies are giving them and while doing this, I observed a student moving uncomfortably in a pose and suggested an alternative.
At the end of class they approached me and expressed that they prefer to be left alone and that they were struggling for other reasons. I am so grateful that they felt they could come and talk to me openly and for the lessons it than presents to me.
We are ALL different and that's what makes us AMAZING ......
I can and do as a teacher, instruct you on how to execute a pose, but once you're there YOU have the time and space to delve into your body, to uncover your strengths, to face insecurities and discover what is meaningful in your life. To not only experience the physical, but the emotional and make the decision if it's best for you. No one else can tell you what it should feel like, or how you should feel.
Listen to your body
Thank yourself for showing up
Let your breath guide you
Own your feelings
Speak your truth
Surround yourself with those who hold the same values
Sit with your emotions
Try to remain open, no judgement
Respect yourself
